I've had varying amounts of luck.  Sometimes it just worked.  Sometimes I've had
to plead for help which you've generously provided.  My next job is MINGW, but I
see someone has fought and won that battle and documented his tactics in this 
group.

You've done it again!  The offending line was:

#define U64 unsigned long

Comments in the vicinity implied this macro was superfluous.  I removed it, and
it compiles and runs without the fireworks.
