I doubt we'll change it now. Note that it is not really a forum, it is really a front-end to the mailing list. It is also mirrored on the news servers, and in various other places many of which support more complex searching tools. The expectation, I think, is that most users will sort and search via their mail clients or news readers, most of which provide very sophisticated tools these days. So you may find that some other way of viewing the posts suits you better - I hear a lot of folk like gmane's interface for web access (though I don't use it much myself...)
