(1) Did you read the referenced link? This is not a FLTK problem,
and the mentioned file is deprecated for more than 10 years now.
Other software has the same problem with it.
(2) If you don't have a .Xdefaults (and no .Xresources) file in
your home directory, then ... well, I don't know why that is so
in your case. You could edit one yourself (see the STR above for
an example, and change colors as you like). At least you could
try if this helps. Remember that you must restart your X-Session
to load the file.
(3) If you know how it can be done better, suggestions and patches
are welcome. Currently we don't know how we can do better, and as
you can see from the STR, the solution is almost one year old, and
since that time nobody seemed to have this problem any more (until
you asked now, of course).
