I don't have Ubuntu, so don't know which version of FLTK is installed or whether the documentation is installed as well, but you might want to look at: http://www.fltk.org/documentation.php and choose the docs that match what is installed. There is a chapter on using fluid. However, you might find it more helpful to watch Greg's video tutorials on fluid. They might be a bit old now, but they give the basic idea.
