I assume you mean "prefs" rather than "perfs" here? I think if you use "perfs" for the file extension it *really* will not work. Anyway, how did you create that prefs file? Was it hand-edited? (I guess it must have been.) I think the problem is that (and I have not checked the code) the problem is that Fl_Preferences does not handle comments within a group, so the count is thrown. Matt would be the expert of Fl_Preferences matters. Although the prefs files are flat ASCII text, they are "conceptually" opaque, so editing them by hand and adding comments might be a fragile and unsupported activity. That said, you should probably file an STR for this, just to ensure it is flagged. Maybe it'll get fixed... As a slight aside, the behaviour (though "wrong") is consistent, in that fltk1.3 and fltk1.1 behave in the same fashion...)
