Yes; my example with fl_alert() is as simple as I could
make it, the other code I linked to shows the more correct
ways, but involves a bit more OS overhead to 'do it right',
but these are common coding patterns. (See the "Stevens"
book on "Unix Systems Programming" which is by far the
*best* book on this subject)
