So which version of FLTK (1.1.10,1.3.x..),
which compiler version (eg. "g++ -v", VS 2008, VS2010, etc)
and which platform/distro (centos/redhat/winxp/win7/macosx/etc)?
Seems specific to your build environment, as we can't seem
to replicate.

Yes, it's Window's specific, AFAICT, and possibly Windows/mingw specific at
that.
Be handy if he'd posted that detail at some point, of course, but it looks like
both Albrecht and I managed to figure it out from the clues that were there. I
wonder if we win a prize?
In summary, grp1, grp2, grp3, grp4 are not usable variable names in that
environment.
Odd though, because if the OP had followed your suggestion of #undef'ing the
offending symbols first, I'd expect that would also fix it...
