I take it we are all assuming those are false positives then!?  ;-)

I have never seen that, though I do not use Avira, and I know some versions of 
AVG can be "twitchy" about configure scripts...

That may be out of scope for this list; I'm not sure that any (certainly not 
many!) of the usual suspects around here are all that familiar with ITK and the 
vtk stuff generally - you may get more sense asking over on the ITK sites 
instead, I'm afraid.
