Works for me on centos 5.x with fltk 1.3.x current svn.
Which makes me think it's either fltk minor-version specific,
platform-specific,
window-manager-specific, or perhaps even graphics-driver-specific issue,
so please provide that info:
platform/distro release info
window manager name/release
full FLTK release info 1.3.Y svn ZZZZ, where you tell us Y and
ZZZZ.
compiler info (g++, VS, etc)
graphics card
