I am running 10.8.1

Used the configure and make from the terminal. I didn't discover the Xcode 
project until I downloaded the lasted svn version:)

Yes it just works. Very much appreciate fltk project for this. It already 
helped me learn a lot by settings breakpoints to see how events are going 
around and callbacks for editor etc..

Downloaded the latest svn version and the issue went away still used configure 
and make from the terminal. So it seams the r9696 had something with it.
Also hoping this version has the line numbers patch in editor. Haven't checked 
it yet.
