It depends on what in detail a status bar is ment to be and to do.

Maybe it's a line of space at the bottom of the window. You can fill 
this space by an output, showing status "working" (hope so ;o).
Also a button is okay - the button label show last message and pressing 
the status bar button may open the message log. Also you could use a 
group, containing several specialised status objects, like 
light-buttons, buttons, outputs, timers and so on.

So there is no native status bar in FLTK, because there is no best way 
of being a status bar.
