Patches are a pain to apply, so they tend to take quite a while to get applied; this is the main reason we've moved to github.
Pull requests are definitely the way to go (as Daniel said). We're all quite busy right now, so it's taking longer for us to review and apply changes, but we'll get to them as soon as we can.
