As I recall, I only found some tests for one level of inheritance - this 
seems to be a big gap in the current suite of unit tests!

I looked into writing some more tests that went deeper, but ran into 
difficulties understanding the existing test framework, and had to abandon 
the effort due to schedule pressures.

It has been many months, but maybe I can find the existing tests again, if 
you come up blank.
