FluidR3 is available from www.hammersound.net too. There is a Fedora/RedHat RPM package, installing the sf2 files into /usr/share/soundfonts http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3?stat=3&search=fluid-soundfont > AFAIK, VLC supports both Jack and PulseAudio output natively.
