Hi Marcus,

I carefully but I didn't know how to get the bank and preset number. I
now understand that those are the left and right part of the
XXX-YYY 'number' in the list given by

        fluisynth
        > load /usr/share/sounds/sf2/FluidR3_GM.sf2
        > fonts
        ID Name
         2 /usr/share/sounds/sf2/FluidR3_GM.sf2
         1 /usr/share/sounds/sf3/default-GM.sf3
        > inst 1
        000-000 Yamaha Grand Piano
        000-001 Bright Yamaha Grand
        000-002 Electric Piano
        ...

So now I can indeed call (with $7 being my synth instance):

        (fluid_synth_program_select $7 0 1 0 126)
        (noteon $7 0 60 100)

        [ and hear a nice applause :-)

Thanks,
David
