Daphne,

First off, I think you will want to test on the latest version of the Layout Reorderer / uPortal integration. It looks like the Fluid build site (http://build.fluidproject.org/uPortal/render.userLayoutRootNode.uP) is not up-to-date, at least on the uPortal side. Maybe Simon from UBC could chime in on that? It would be of most benefit to test against the uPortal trunk, which is the in-development 3.1 version.

As for the Announcement portlet, the Fluid build site uses the out-of-the-box uPortal configuration. Out-of-the-box, uPortal does not include an Announcements portlet in the layout of any of the default users. That is because out-of-the-box uPortal does not have an Announcements portlet registered in the system. In other words, one would have to be in the environment you plan to test in.

Then there is the issue of how often the Fluid build environment updates (re-builds). I believe that each time it re-builds, it will return uPortal to the out-of-the-box state, but someone else can probably speak to that with more authority.

In summary:

1. Need a newer build of uPortal/Layout Reorderer (Simon?)
2. Need to create an Announcements portlet in the Student layout (Gary - I can show you how to do it, or set it up for you) 3. Determine when the environment is re-built to as to be sure that your testing setup is not squashed prior to the test (Justin?)

I'd be glad to help.

Gary

Is it possible to add another portlet to the uPortal mock-up? Our user testing protocols assume there is an announcement portlet at the bottom of the page which isn't in this version. I started to edit the protocol but it basically changes everything so I thought I'd check to see how difficult it would be to get that portlet added.

Thanks!

Hi Daphne,

I have updated the link on the page you mentioned, so it should be working now.

As for build, I think you may have looked at the uPortal demo, which is an instance that was pulled from the uPortal trunk. For that one, you need to login (info provided in one of the portlets e.g. demo/demo) before you are able to reorder anything. The link that I placed on your page is for our uPortal mock-up which includes an ImageReorderer portlet and an inline edit field in the Bookmarks portlet

Hope this helps.

Thanks
Justin

Howdy!

I'm working on updating user testing protocols for the next round of user testing -- much of which will likely be done at Landmark College. The test environment on latest Layout Reorder protocol (http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Layout+Reorderer+User+Testing+-+Round+3) points to a 404 error:

http://build.fluidproject.org/fluid/sample-code/reorderer/portal/portal.html

I looked on build and when I go to the uPortal layout reorderer demo there I can't seem to reorderer anything.

Anyone know what's going on with either of these?
