Hi everyone.

On June 5, James and I presented Decapod to Digital Odyssey 2009 - a
conference attended by libraries, educational institutions, and other
stakeholders in digital preservation of collections.

You can now find the slides of the presentation on the Fluid Wiki:
http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Decapod (under the
"Presentations" heading)

The presentation went well and the response was enthusiastic. Two notable
questions were:

Q. When will Decapod be available?
A. Decapod is a 2 year project, with a simple functioning version by end of
year 1. We will be looking for participants in testing and evaluating the
solution throughout the project.

Q. Will Decapod be a package I can buy?
A. Possibly, though we have not formally discussed plans. The Decapod
software will be freely downloadable and the compliant hardware components
readily available at retail stores. So you can assemble your own solution
depending on your requirements and budget.

I think this is a start of an FAQ.

Questions / comments can be directed to me ([email protected]) or to
this mailing list.
