Good morning Vicki,
I am not sure if I will be available on Monday. Can you send me
another message on Friday to remind me to confirm my availability?
Thanks,
Everett

Hi Everett,
Thanks for attending the design meeting yesterday and your feedback
on accessibility concerns!
This week Xiao, Leila and I will be working on kiosk designs that
incorporate physical buttons and audio navigation as we discussed.
We are hoping that you'll be available on Monday February 15 at
1:00PM (your time) on skype to review options?
Best, Vicki

Good morning Vicki,
Thanks for updating the wiki page. I'd love to participate in the
design meeting to get a better sense of the project so that I can
formulate some ideas. Where can I find info about time / joining the
meeting? I'm hoping it isn't using breeze.
Thanks,
Everett

Hi Everett,
Thanks for responding!! I'll go back to the wiki page and update the
images with alt tags - as suggested.
Currently, the plan for the kiosk is for a person to browse and
select a tour, then print their selection upon entry to the museum
space.
After I read through Alison's notes from chat with blind user about
museum experience ( http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Notes+from+chat+with+blind+user+about+museum+experience+%28January+13%2C+2010%29
) we started to explore alternative solutions.
One of the solutions we came up with was, a blind person preplanning
a trip to the museums could visit the web site, browse and select a
tour, then download the tour as a MP3. This would give folks an
audio account of their tour.
We are questioning the value of such a tool - any comments on
possible solutions would be paramount at this time!!
Best, Vicki

Good evening Vicki,
I noticed a couple of things about this Wiki page.
1. No mention of users who are blind and partially sighted. This may
be a limitation of your project that I'm not aware of, so not a big
deal if it is outside of the scope of what you're working on.
2. Although I didn't click on all of the links, I noticed that none
of the images had appropriate alt text to let me know what I was
looking at / what design plans you are considering.
It definitely takes a little extra effort and attention to detail to
make web content accessible, however, when we don't (I am guilty of
it myself when I'm in a hurry) we reduce our potential audience, and
limit the access that persons with certain disabilities have to
information. In this case, limiting the feedback that a member of
the community would be happy to provide regarding your design
suggestions.
Thanks,
Everett

Hi Design team et al,
If you have a time before tomorrow's design meeting you're input
would be greatly appreciated!
We have recently posted our suggested options for the physical kiosk
designs on this wiki page [ http://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Suggested+Options
]
Have a look, see you tomorrow!
Best, Vicki
