Thanks for sending this out Colin! I thought it was a pretty encouraging talk, and he makes some really good points. I likewise liked the emphasis on planning for doing it wrong the first time, and I especially liked his point about how design iterations affect the problem being solved. Good design process doesn't just move us toward a good solution--it also helps to clarify what it was we were really trying to solve in the first place. It's certainly something we've discovered in many of our own endeavours on Fluid.
One of the individuals near the end also made an interesting statement: "I'm a real believer in the power of aesthetics to manifest action; in the design process, you can go to this crazy level where you just imagine, just visualize, and other people build it because they're inspired by what you imagined." What a lovely idea that is!
