Hi Jan,

Thanks for the feedback - comments in return:

- I personally like the thought of end users being able to choose alternative
graphing methods; something to consider when we’re designing and implementing
the embed experience
- I think accessible data tables are pretty much a given
- sonification is a planned part of the authoring tool and incorporated into
the current designs

Hi Alan,

Some thoughts on:
https://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Open+Source+Chart+Library+Selection

Under "Accessibility criteria", so far you have:

  *   Alternate representations
  * Navigating aspects of chart with keyboard only
  *   Screen reader behaviour

I might add:

  * Ability of the end user to choose alternative graphing methods (e.g.
subbing a bar chart for a pie chart)
  * Ability of the end user to choose to display accessible data tables
  * Timing control (pause/play, step forward, step back, etc.) in the event
that dynamic charting is used.

Can I assume that UIOptions support (e.g. for end user control of contrast,
text size, spacing, etc.) is a given?

Also, has thought been given to adding sonfication in the future? (one
approach:http://sonify.psych.gatech.edu/research/auditorygraphs/index.html)

Cheers,
Jan

Subject: Feedback invited - FLOE chart authoring tool chart library research
outcomes

Hello everyone,

Some of us spent last week researching potential approaches to creating
accessible charts and graphs for the chart authoring tool. We have a proposed
approach for going forward that we’d invite others to review:

https://wiki.fluidproject.org/display/fluid/Open+Source+Chart+Library+Selection

(the first half of the page is the research outcomes; the second half is an
earlier capture of our criteria)

Thanks,
Alan
