i too had this problem and i found a fix that todd overlooked when he tried to help me. deleting and recreating it does nothing to fix it. Go into your user folder, then go into preferrences. search in that folder for a file with that apps name in it and delete it. it will recreate itself and work. before you make the app a menuextra again, be sure to make any changes from default to it prior to making it a menuextra. making changes afterwards seems to corrupt it. hopefully in the next update that'll be addressed.
