hi stavroskoul,
the built-in support for Gmail dock badges works on the English version of
gmail only. if you are using another language, you'll need to write or find
a userscript to achieve this. If you install a userscript to do this
yourself, you should turn off this checkbox (so Fluid doesnt accidentally
destroy your badge while unsuccessfully trying to update the badge itself):

Preferences -> General -> Fluid attempts to show dock badge labels

if however, you are using english Gmail, then I dont know why its not
working....
