I think you hit the nail on the head - it's a never-ending Google
script that kills Fluid. Gmail is a total system resources sucker
sometimes... and then other times... you barely notice. In Fx, the
status bar is active almost the entire time I am logged in for an
email session.

If you pull open Activity Monitor at the beginning of your session,
you can watch how Gmail just slowly consumes more and more and more
memory. Blah.

You said you tried the "slow html" link... I assume that means you're
clicking the link called "basic html..." there's another link down
there called "older version" - it's really ugly and no labs features
or anything, but it works much more reliably. and it's not quite as
cumbersome as the "basic html" version.
