Guys, I feel that doing any kind of complicated parsing or md5 stuff is really 
overcomplicating the solution. These bugs are quite simple to work around / fix 
in this manner and changes to those environment variables should be rare enough 
that we can just fix any problems as we find them. It's not practical to try to 
future-proof this shell interface stuff which is already, unfortunately, not 
very robust (because HBase and Hadoop do not provide the facilities we want). 
Let's just do the simplest thing possible here.
