Did you try the flume shell?
You can get all the information you need using the commands in the shell.

Note however that if you are looking for a way to connect to the master
"programatically"
via RPC to obtain the data, then Flume OG has no support for it currently.
Also note that
Flume OG has no support to start physical flume processes programatically.
(From what I understand, the latest flume release still under
construction is called Flume NG and I refer
to the current release as Flume OG).
