it was approximately 12:23 pm on the 18th day of january, 2000 a.d.
a package arrived at my office containing a few cds and a record that i'd
recently ordered...i hadn't expected their arrival so soon, but, needless
to say, i was excited.
-the first, david tudor's "neural synthesis 6-8" (2cd). has anyone heard
any of this man's work or others he's worked with?
-the second, sonic youth's latest offering "goodbye 20th century" on double
vinyl...it's them doing covers of pieces by cage, oliveros, reich, yoko
ono...etc.
-the third, the reason for this post, (to a list i've been on for months
without an intro) was the subrosa release (sr80) "lunapark 0,10" it not
only features kurt schwitters, but also tristan tzara and marcel duchamp
among others...i ordered through cdnow and it was in stock and shipped
right away.
while on the topic of dada and sound poetry and the like...has anyone ever
seen the film, "europe after the rain" (1978 UK by mick gold)? i have a
copy of it that i bought at the wfmu record show in new york city just a
few months ago...it's a fabulous video that details the dada movement from
its beginnings in the cabaret voltaire up to the later movements it
spawned...
also, on the same tape, is a film called "dada in germany"...it's organized
as an alphabet and as you go through the alphabet they relate each letter
to something dada.
i'd recommend both of these films for anyone with even a very very little
bit of interest in dada and surrealism...
ok, now for the intro...
(there are pictures of myself in the fluxlist i-zone gallery)
i currently organize ink for a living...
i've been collecting music for some time now and have a vast collection of
cassettes, cds and vinyl. my tastes are more and more varied as time goes
by so i won't even start getting into what i like, in a month or so, it'll
have changed.
i was in college studying to be an architect, then a graphic designer...i
never finished either of them and now i just work in the printing industry
organizing ink (graphic design and typesetting), constantly talking about
how i'll eventually finish a bachelors in something.
i first became interested in fluxus through dada, through surrealism,
through early exposure to salvador dali...
i could go on and on about what i like to read, what i like to listen to
and what i like to do with my spare time, but so far, this is enough and
i'll leave it at that...
hopefully i'll become a bit more active on this list as i've been reading
it and sitting in the corner watching since may of 1999. if anyone wants
to know more about me, or my music, or my art, or my life or my telephone,
just ask...
