Hi all,
Well, I've finally got round to listening to fluxlister efforts on mp3.com.
Both Gerald and Eryk have put up some very interesting and enjoyable
pieces.
I really enjoy the mp3.com approach to sharing music like this especially in
the face of an increasing dull music industry. Mp3 technology is giving the
"means of production" to all musicians who want to create their own vision
and not that of their manager or their record company.
I would be interested to hear from Gerald and Eryk on how much feedback
their pages have been getting. I know that mp3.com provides a way to track
downloads etc. so I wondered what your stats were.
It also strikes me that it is possible to form a group with musicians
anywhere in the world and work together on material using the same sequencer
(i.e passing round the same midi/mp3 file by e-mail to add the different
parts) then putting the result on mp3.com . If anyone fancies working out a
way to jam virtually like this and collaborate on a few tunes I'd be very
interested, maybe we could do it with Cakewalk or something like that or
even better to support some shareware/freeware product if possible.
Anyway, just a few thoughts.
Thanks to Gerald and to Eryk ,Matt and Mark for sharing their work with us.
cheers,
Sol.
