snow wild
dog rubs his face in snow, goofy, lies on back interminably
Is he alive? Doggie snow angel
children throw snowballs at big people, buses and trees
big people throw them back
sledding 40mph down a treacherous hill, no, a large mountain
with lots of trees and rocks
(a heinous crime happened near there years later)
no parents to see -- where were they then?
omigod I'd faint to see it today
snow forts
igloos
sand castles, snow people
lost in a blizzard wandering happily
crazed by snow lust
then it turns to much colder, later, suddenly
and it rains
everything freezes
or it's warm and there's slush, soupy, floaty slush
dribs and drabs last longer the farther away from sidewalk and pigeon you roam
white sky whiteout smiles
stops time breathless
my first sculpture was in snow
a santa claus
I kept it on the window sill with the window open to the terrace
and it stayed for a long time
(I made a poop in a tiny barrel in a small corner about this time,
no one saw it, or said anything)
my first drunk was when the snow
(my partner in crime was from California)
we drank in the 'lanai'
then weaved or crawled up the avenue to a boy's house, dark shadows
(also from California!)
people were skiing down the middle 2/5am new york many years ago
snow's this fluffy nothing, a vapor, a mist, a liquid, a solid
very chemical
crystals
colors
night
dark white snow
moon reflects as bright as day
but it's had to capture, except
on your tongue, in your eyelashes
in the cuffs of clothes, crevices of shoes, pockets of hollow
red and black and white all over
