The University of Denver's Digital Media Studies program is seeking
applicants for a full-time, one-year lecturer position in the School of
Art & Art History to begin September 1, 2000. Possibility of renewal.
MFA required. Professional experience in the design industry, in addition
for an exhibition record, and teaching experience preferred.
We are looking for an electronic media artist with strengths in the
theory, practice and history of visual communication and typography, who
can also address issues of identity and branding, visual semiotics, and
progressive media literacy. This job entails teaching two classes per
ten-week quarter (6 classes/year) with 15 students per class, introductory
level through master of arts. Students are drawn from the B. F. A. in
Electronic Media Design and from B.A. and M.A. programs in Digital Media
Studies.
Digital Media Studies (www.du.edu/dms) operates as an interdisciplinary
program among the School of Art & Art History, the Department of Math and
Computer Science, and the School of Communication. Its interdisciplinary
approach involves undergraduate and graduate students in the design of
digital media along with technical and critical approaches to their uses.
The successful candidate for this position will join two other electronic
media artists in the School of Art and Art History, where eMAD is a small,
innovative, emerging program. The University of Denver is a major private
