I had a number of them on tape back in my college DJ days. Their best albums are "Duck Stab","Eskimo" and "the Third Reich and Roll", but you pretty much can't go wrong with anything that came out before "The King and Eye" IMHO. I noticed that some of their Ameircan Composers series "George and James" (Gerswin and James Brown) and "The Stars and Hank Forever" (Souza and Hank Williams) have been reissued on Rhino, and are well worth getting. On the James Brown one, they spoof the whole JB "live at the Apollo" album, whereas the Hank Williams covers were heartfelt and poigant, esp. "16 miles to the Graveyard" Their concept albums were brilliant, like the "Commercial Album" with 40 60-second songs, which I think was the audio for a number of their short video pieces. A similar band worth noting is Renaldo and the Loaf, which was also on Ralph and I believe they did a split LP with the Residents. Anything by Renaldo and the Loaf is worth getting. The titles I remember were Songs for Swinging Larvae The Art of Arabic Yodeling The Elbow is Taboo (their finest) Ralph records was just a fantastic label.
