Things have been strange since the opposing voice to capitalism died out. It's true 
that oppositional voices have gotten more
confused-sounding, less effective perhaps. There's some interest, though, in the 
highly specific protests (over green issues, against
world bank, etc) that tend to be local and tend to posit the value of specific places, 
ecosystems, social networks, local technologies,
etc. These have been quite effective lately, and depend much less on left/right 
ideologies than on virtues or values specific to a place
or community. These are the pragmatic politics I've been interested in lately.
