I've read that Roger Waters used this technique to record the sound effects for "The Final Cut" in 1982/3 which accounts for the spaciousness and realism captured on that disc. This isn't gospel but I've read about this in the Pink Floyd FAQ in reference to the term "holophonics" being used in the liner notes for that album. Myke
