Subject: Opening: Project X 1497-1999

Coach House Books invites you to the opening of damian lopes's installation, Project X
1497-1999, on June 6, 7-10 pm.

Project X 1497-1999 is a poetry-multimedia installation exploring discovery,
technology and colonialism through Vasco da Gama's first voyage from Portugal to South
Asian. If you would like a preview, or if you are out of town, you can view the work
at http://www.bitwalla.com/project_x/

Project X 1497-1999 is installed as part of a show entitled "From Here to There...",
an exhibit surveying the history and collective memory of localized and transient
cultural communities. It's a journey into the dislocation of history, culture and
identity within a contemporary landscape, and features work by damian lopes and Roark
Andrade. The show runs until June 17.

Opening: 6 June, 7-10 pm
