Hi Diana,

Hope I'm not too late on this one. Maybe more people have sent you replies
offlist but just in case they haven't here's my thoughts on some info you
may find useful.

-----------------------------------
Bibbe's homepages are probably a good place to start:
http://www.bibbe.com/
Maybe you've already seen these but if not there's a wealth of material for
you here.
Particularly you'll be interested in the village voice obituary for Al
Hansen's wife Audrey (Bibbe's mother and thus Beck's grandmother):
http://www.bibbe.com/audrey.htm

and as you will see on the site you can e-mail Bibbe at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

One excellent Beck Hansen and family resource from a creative point of view
is the "Playing with matches" book:

Playing with Matches
by Beck Hansen and Al Hansen

144 pages (October 15, 1998)
Plug In Editions/ Smart Art Press; ISBN: 0921381131

This is great and contains examples of visual art work(mostly collage) from
Beck and Al together with writings by both of them concerning their creative
approach. This book is a "must have" if you want to look at the creative
outlook of Beck in terms of the influence of Al.
----------------------------------------------
The following is Al Hansen's classic text on happenings

A Primer of Happenings of Time/Space Art.
by Al Hansen;
NY: Something Else Press, 1965.

You should be able to get a copy via the web, try bibliofind
http://www.bibliofind.com
It's long out of print but still not too pricey. The last copy I saw was
around the $50 mark.
---------------------------------------------
There are of course various catalogues like the one Heiko mentioned but
these may be very difficult to find although some may be available via
inter-library loan, just search and see I guess.
---------------------------------------------
I've also heard about a book called

Al Hansen : an introspective
by Al Hansen

Unfortunately I've never seen a copy nor do I know anything about the
content, I assume it's pretty interesting though. If anyone knows more about
this or at least has the ISBN number could they please post it to the list.
----------------------------------------------

Anyway, I hope the above is useful. Don't hesitate to mail more specific
questions to the list. Also try mailing Bibbe with your questions I imagine
she'd be quite happy to answer them.

cheers,

Sol.
