I see my reply missed your meaning. Art doesn't have to reflect this type of
nationalism but it is very likely to. For example Tibetan Art adheres to a
fairly strict creative tradition (Mandalas, Thangka painting etc.) defined
by Tibetan regional culture even when it is created (as much of it is now)
outside Tibet by Tibetans and non-Tibetans alike. Tibetan art is perhaps an
even greater celebration of nationalism since the Tibetan people have long
been deprived of their own nation. Tibetans are free to make art however
they want and yet most choose to work within the traditional creative
paradigms defined by their ancient theocratic culture.
