Hi all, Well, it seems I'm not getting a few Fluxlist posts as I've just read the many useful reply to my question at our archive. In case there is a list tech problem could others please visit the archive over the next couple of days to check that they're getting all the posts appearing there..thanks. archive is at: http://www.mail-archive.com/fluxlist%40scribble.com/maillist.html Devon wrote: >I find that there is another problem for me. I am young, 24, and full of energy (or full of something). I can find time to do my projects but I run out of money.< Well, a few years down the line you may find yourself in my situation which is no time to do lots of projects and not much money......in fact the only reason I have a decent standard of living is because I have an okay job in a fairly poor city. Here in Stoke-on-Trent housing is the cheapest in England..well it was when they did the last survey..to give you an idea the house next door to us ( a two bedroom terrace house...) sold for eight thousand pounds. Devon also wrote, >I am going to be going to California Instatute of the Arts, affectionatly refered to as CalArts, this fall, so I will have nothing but time to do art. < Sounds good, congratulations......higher education is a great thing......although I work in a university so I'm biased but knowledge is a great thing and worth gathering whereever possible....I personally love good libraries and find one of the benefits of higher education or working at such an institution is access to a wonderful array of books, especially hard to find art publications because libraries are one of the few places that ever buys these things. Anyway, thanks for all the timely advice. I've always thought that the best situation to be in is to have such a high-paying job that you only need to work at it a couple of days a week to pay the bills then the rest of the time is your own. I have an artist friend who's also a doctor who does exactly that....then again he's the only such person I know.....such a lucky boy! so other things: Heiko wrote: >No. What Fluxus (tm) artists think about each other is rather unimportant. Btw, what do "most fluxus artists" think about Maciunas ?< I think Maciunas annoyed the hell out of many of his fellow artists but was greatly admired nevertheless. I have heard Maciunas referred to as "The Stalin of the Silly" but I'm not sure if this was by another Fluxus artist or not. Well, time to leave work behind and head for home. Later :-) Sol
