The banalized image can be subjected to the excesses
of its own power of fascination by going beyond the frame of
reference and rhythm of its presentation.
Instead of showing what is seen, the image itself
would see; it would be the fascinating and already-petrified
eye. What fascinates is at the same time immobilized,
petrified, as if fascination had already taken place. The
dead man`s gaze is the effect of a successful fascination.
