CALL ME MISHIMAEL
damp drizzly November
mists in offings turned
soul pausing before coffin
distant ships black
silent sentinels stand
day after day
fixed in ocean reveries
a daily repetition
everyone knows water
called up all
evil
and meditation wedded
three ideas in
nature
all not without meaning
join in our hearts
image ungraspable
grand signal or
whim
phantom of life
nameless anarchy
key to it all
rejecting a name
Fates springs motives
each instant brought
under various disguises
more momentous explosion
delusion was a choice
accustomed to absurdity
Overwhelming idea
Happenings endless
mysterious curiosity
signals distant ringing
wild nameless perils
sound sea incessantly
tormented for things remote
hidden and appearing again
quick to perceive horror
ceaselessly blinking eye
wonder world swung open
floated off somberly
grand hooded phantom
black hull from west
endless hill in air
no sign yet of port
