Chirot, so lovely as usual. Is spring as tardy there as here? This is the exhausted time in this region, everything brown, looks like it will never grow again. This time of year--before anything comes up--people used to starve, all the animals depleted too, nothing growing yet. But there are the occasional signs: a crocus or two, a snowdrop. In a couple weeks it'll be unrecognizable. So I'm trying to get out on the lake more, where the blue doesn't diminish for cold. Lucky old Chaucer, to live in England's mild climate, where April really is spring instead of the last hard tail end of harsh winter. AK
