While I don't think that subscribing strictly to Maciunas' ideas of Fluxus is at all necessary, I do agree with his dislike of the term avant. Avant implies being ahead of the group or at least separate and Fluxus, to my feelings, is for of and by the masses. One of its goals is making art part of life and life part of art. Its not an art discipline that one learns after studying for years at an academy.
Fluxus is alive as long as people want to challenge the bourgoise (sp?), and have fun and be creative. Benjamin
