Hiya, Alex, Carol, and all: Been busy with reorganizing the "studio" with a new Mac too, so I can somewhat relate to Carol's setup frustrations when it comes to the exciting world of Techland. The other day at lunch, I met a young man who had interests in electronic music. He asked me what kind of software that I use for my work. I told him that I hadn't bought the Mac yet (the subject of the Mac was what led us into talking about music interests). He then said, "Oh yes, I know that, but what software do you use?" I said that I don't use software - he then became quite baffled, "How can you create electronic music without software?" I just shook my head - two generations at odds. Strange, amusing, odd...i don't know...maybe now, i can see what "software" is all about after nearly 35 years of creating music and whether it'll make any difference. Alex, you mention "Can, Amon Dl II, and Barry White all in the same day", but they could've just as easily been inside the same hour. I'm using CD players that hold hundreds of discs that go random all day long, so it's not unusual to hear, let say, 60 to 80 performers/bands/events/etc in one day. In the last hour: Henry Threadgill Sextett, The Blackstones, James Blood Ulmer, Polkacide, Darryl Vincent, Fezz Fritsche and the Goosetown Band, King Benny Nawahi, Andr Boucourechliev, Lukas Foss, Sun Ra, The Faction, Ravi Shankar, Igor Bril, and Steve Reich Anyway, I've seen on other lists this appellation spring up: "NR" for "now reading" and this nearly always provides a springboard for interesting discussion or trading of ideas... Sorry, I don't know of "Fallnet", but maybe I should? Peaceful holidays to all! (tomorrow, more equipment arranging and, with time, carpet cleaning the whole house for holiday company next week...) k! r~ np: guru guru: baby cake walk __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
