On the subject of YBAs and destruction... one of the most fascinating things I've seen was Michael Landy's 'Breakdown' where he catalogued all his stuff and destroyed it all taking it down to it's components etc. He smashed up some really good records... You could see the limited edition multi coloured vynl bowie records spin around the conveyer belts.... I'm sure this has been done before but it was interesting to watch... Saw a documentary about it and some Japanese curator wanted him to do a second performance... I think they missed the point.
