well, all right, since we're spending so much time in the urinals these days ...

we were working with henri francia on one of his films (1966?) in n.y. at that time artist fumio yoshimura, who died this year, was married to artist and founding feminist kate millet; they lived/worked in a studio on the bowery near cooper union. we shot a scene inside fumio's urinal sculpture installation. a semi-enclosed space with a row of urinals and a pair of women's legs protruding from either side of each urinal. one placed oneself between the women's legs. the camera panned the urinals and stopped at my back as i appeared occupied with biological concerns. then i turned round to face the camera - a young thing of the female persuasion. millet and yoshimura divorced in the 70s.
