you're right there sol!
mind you i never really had a broad geordie accent but, i have a posh
geordie accent now! like i said i lived in sunderland for ten years so i
had to change it slightly to avoid getting my head kicked in, and i worked
for british telecom so i had to be able to be understood by people from
croydon, then i moved to italy, people say that the italian has altered my
accent to, and i teach english so i have to be able to be understood by my
students etc etc etc
although colleagues from more southerly parts of the UK always have trouble
when nic and i are talking to each other - which is great in staff meetings!
