while waiting for the Toy Box, I would like to start another project that
is alot easier to get together.
It's very simple: choose a song you like.
record
this song.
do not record this song direct.
place a microphone in the room where the song
is being played (or
another room).
press
play and record on your tape recorder.
press
record on your mini-disc recorder.
press
record on your digital recorder.
enable
record anyway that you can, and on
anything that you can.
send
this recording to me.
send
this recording to me with a view on
whether or not you
think this
recording
is a remix, or cover
version.
theorize heavily.
The recording is basic. No manipulation save for medium choice
and recording hardware. If this rawness can't contain you, then two track
it. One being the song, One being the recorded ambience of the room
(silent before recording). Put these two together. Not Mix.
Just put. one on top of the other. Two choices two pick from.
And no weaving of the two.
Fin: you have the choice as to what the final medium will be before you
deliver it to me. Anything goes: common forms and less common
(8-track/SmartMedia and others). The only tricky form would be DAT.
I have no immediate access to a machine.
