Synopsis
ETERNAL GAZE is a poignant story about an artist, his art, and
reciprocated love. Inspired by the life of one of the greatest artists of the twentieth
century -- ALBERTO GIACOMETTI -- the film follows the artist through
the last 9 years of his remarkable life, and journeys into the
depths of his famously tortured psyche. Along the way, we experience the human conditions of despair, love,
and hope that are as much a part of Giacometti’s art as they are
about the artist himself.Filmmaker's Statement
ETERNAL GAZE is a computer-animated film about a real person in a
real location, produced in a medium with unlimited possibilities.
The screenplay was inspired by a combination of ideas and facts
based on Giacometti's real life stories -- with a sensitive touch of
fantasy thrown in. Like Giacometti, whose art was of construction and deconstruction --
of reworking, decomposing and rebuilding, the Director utilized a
similar methodology in his animation production in hopes of better
understanding the subject matter and "to follow Giacometti's
footsteps."
