BLIP, Brighton's arts-science forum, celebrates its first two years,

bringing together contemporary artists and scientists in a day of

performances, talks, discussion and jamming.

 

Program begins with a film screening about Billy Kluver's inaugural

Experiments in Art and Technology (EAT) in 1966: Anne-Olivia Le Cornec

(France) presents her documentary, featuring EAT co-founder Billy Kluver's

collaborations with John Cage, Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Robert

Rauschenberg and others. Plus: artist/musician Ansuman Biswas; Australian

generative artist Paul Brown; Tim Blackwell's `swarm music' with

composer/performer Michael Young, Goldsmiths Live Electronics Group and

classical singer Robin Higgins; pioneering generative artist William

Latham; Professor Phil Husbands on evolutionary robotics; film

installation by Jon Bird, CiCi Blumstein, Joe Faith, Bill Bigge & Andy

Webster. The evening closes with a jam hosted by Brighton's highly

acclaimed Laptop Jams outfit.

 

In between performers & speakers: Plenty of mingling time, with VJ sets by

vj juxta (ninjatune); russell (vjamm); sleepy tom (vjamm Allstars);

mishfit. Plus exhibition curated by Andy Webster, with works by Daro

Montag, Sophia Milligan, CiCi Blumstein, Joe Faith, Jon Bird, Bill Bigge,

Sam Woolf, Tine Bech, Clare Bridgman, Eric Harris/Interact Lab, Andy

Webster, The White Van Manifesto.
