Don,

Chuck Tomlins recommended that I contact you. I was a student of Chuck's at
the University of Tulsa, and have remained in contact with him since
graduating in 1994. (For some reason I just can't shake him!) Your name came
up while discussion a current project that I am preparing to begin.

I'm contacting you for two reason:

1) I'm interested in Fluxus West. Chuck tells me that you, as the director,
would be able to provide information.

2) I am currently seeking participants in an art/mail project in which I
would like to invite you to participate. The guidelines are simple: Get a
book. Make inclusion. Send it to the next person on a list (to be provided)
after 30 days. The books will continue working through the group until each
original makes its way home. I've attached the original invitation to this
message. I welcome any comments and your participation!

I look forward to hearing from you!
Kory

Have you ever noticed that you can learn a lot about a person based on the
books they read? What if the books they read were also modified to become a
journal of sorts? What could you then learn? What if the books traveled
through many hands before making its way back home to you? That's the
concept behind Project #2: Book Inclusion.

Here's how it works: each person is to start by getting a book. The books
can be from your bookshelf or purchased, new or used--finding a book with
marks already in it would be choice. Just get a book. Read the book. Don't
read the book. Write in the margins of the book (writings don't have to
relate to the book). Underline your favorite passages. Modify the book in
any way. Just make sure the book is left in tact and legible. All markings
should be made anonymously, but signatures should be made on the inside
cover. After 30 days, the books will be exchanged via mail to the members of
this list. After a number of months to be determined by the number of
participants, the books will be returned to their original owners. The
project will be completed by discussion in a format to be determined
covering the project and outcomes.

To keep the project random, the books will be sent from/to people in order
as each person accepts.

This, of course, requires exchanging mailing addresses with the group. Any
one opposed to that disclosure? Any interest? I'm open to any changes to the
concept. If anyone is interested, I would like to start Oct. 1.

Feedback, thoughts or opinions???
Kory
