MadDawg,

The standard tip in London is around 10% to 15% of the cheque.

We usually tip on the generous side. There are always so many of us
that we require more attention than most tables. We eat out for planning
meetings or after concerts, and we always perform one of two or three
food-related Fluxpieces. Thus, we keep a table full longer than most. This
reduces the number of times a waiter can "turn" the table, and we think
we should pay for the loss. We are often a bit messy with all the butter
and egg pieces, and we feel we should pay for the extra work.

I don't know how much money we left Saturday night, but the sum
always meets these standards.

This seems to be a Fluxus tradition when using restaurants as venues for
performing events. A 1964 score by Ken Friedman for a restaurant event
involves everyhing but ordering food. There was no cheque, but the
event score nevertheless requires leaving a lavish tip.
