Hi, all

Well, today our phones are back on. I’ve had no internet access for a week on account of a hedge-trimmer taking down a telephone pole.

Here in England, when something like that happens, a crack team of BT workmen (well, two actually) rush to the scene and start repairing it right away.

Apparently some people still haven’t got their phones working.

Ah… Venice. What a magical place.

Yes, we had a lovely time with the FFFO. Alan was very entertaining and a fountain of knowledge about all thing Venetian.

His staff were very attentive, too. Particularly his Gondola Chauffeur, who took us up the various back alleys and canals that cross and in some cases criss that wonderful city – all the while whistling some of the great hits of Dean Martin. Truly, a magical experience.

Yes, we did take two photos. I hope you don’t think that too extravagant, but we wanted to be on the safe side in case one didn’t come out.

So, thanks to the FFFO team, the personal trainers, the pencil sharpeners, the watchers, Alfredo the translator (Italian to English), Marco (Geordie to English), the tea lady and everyone who made our day so memorable.

Roger
